The abattoir has been equipped with state-of-the-art and highly efficient plant and equipment, which ensures high-quality processing. We have a comprehensive fleet of cattle transport trucks, both owned and hired, which facilitate timely collection and optimal handling of animals destined for the feedlot or abattoir.
The abattoir currently employs over 20 skilled personnel and additional unskilled labor to support its operations. With a capacity to process 100 carcasses per day, it is well-prepared to meet the demands of the market efficiently.
Independent government health inspectors and meat graders are responsible for inspections of all products to the highest health, hygiene and quality standards.
These products are chilled in the cold rooms before being loaded onto refrigerated trucks for distribution, ensuring a seamless cold chain from beginning to end. Ekhaya Farms wholesales the beef and offal products in bulk, predominantly to customers in Blantyre and Lilongwe. The company's pilot depot is in Chikwawa town. An effective sophisticated stock management system tracks all products from production to customer, ensuring full accountability and traceability to the highest standards.
